Yoga for Inner Light ~ 4-week Winter Solstice Series
Tuesdays, 7:00-8:15 PM November 27 - December 18
We’ll celebrate the solstice season with a warming practice to stoke our inner light (yang)and honor the rhythms of nature by turning inward to find a sense of soothing stillness(yin) to balance out this busy season. The practice will be led in the Kripalu Tradition and will be appropriate for beginners as well experienced students.
Join me for this special 4-week holiday series as we work our way toward the Winter Solstice. The word solstice means “sun standing still.” For the ancients this day marked the pause where the sun was at it’s furthest point from the earth just before it begins it’s journey back. So it is both the shortest, darkest day of the year and it also marks the beginning of the return of light to the earth. We’ll celebrate the solstice season with a warming practice to stoke our inner light (yang)and honor the rhythms of nature by turning inward to find a sense of soothing stillness(yin) to balance out this busy season. This series is open to students of all levels including beginners. Each class will include Yoga & Buddhist philosophy, poetry & soul-stirring music as well as pranayama (breathwork), asana (postures) and gentle vinyasa (flow of postures) capped off with a long, restful savasana(deep relaxation).

Yoga Nidra means yogic sleep. This deeply restful and restorative practice has ancient roots in the Yoga Tradition and yet is perfect for helping us to unplug from the distraction, busyness and stress of living in our modern world. Using breath awareness, body sensing and guided meditation you will journey through the layers of your being to the deepest levels of consciousness - the bliss body. This practice is powerful in relieving stress, creating a deeply relaxed state, increasing focus of mind, igniting creativity as well as releasing deeply-held emotional blocks and negative patterns of thought and belief, clearing space for new more positive patterns to take hold. No yoga experience is necessary.
